Do you remember playing team games as a child?  Two leaders are chosen, and one by one, each leader picks their team members. As the pool becomes smaller, those waiting to hear their name called out, silently scream, ‘pick me! I don’t want to be the last one standing!’

It’s amazing how quickly my skin bruises. It doesn’t matter how soft the knock or the pinch, it is inevitable that I will have a huge bruise.

Bruises are one thing but have you ever fallen so hard that your skin is open? And, it’s painful to look at the scar left behind.

When I think of leadership, I think of a quality or characteristic that most people desire in their life.  We see people that possess confidence and an ability to lead others and we become inspired.  For some people it seems to come more natural than for others.  What makes them stand out?  Leading by example and servant leadership are what I feel makes these individuals shine.

Several words come to mind when I hear the word “Courage.” I think of words like brave, strong, power, perseverance and battle. As a man, I love these words. I am reminded of movies like “Braveheart,” “Gladiator” and “Rocky.” We see men face the odds that are stacked up against them, we cheer them on as they go into battle and defeat their enemy.

The sun always shines; some days you just have to look beyond the clouds. #BelievingIsSeeing
